Work in Progress Report - Results Not As Expected

I am not getting Jobs recording on the Work In Progress reports that I think should be there.

Solution

Check that you are reporting on **Any Status** and are not limiting this to *Active* jobs.

The Job Status filter will filter jobs to their status in the software right now.

If you are looking for Jobs that were a Work In Progress a year ago it would be common to leave the status as ** Any Status ** as those jobs would be expected to be complete by now.

This report has been improved in 8.525 to exclude Jobs with only Notes (/N) lines unbilled.

Option 2

My report is run at 31/10/2024 and it is showing some jobs that have been invoiced out with that same date on it.

Solution

The WIP report looks at the field BilledDate in JOBLN. When an invoice is created from a job and saved – that is when the BilledDate is recorded.

If the invoice was created on the 02/10/2024, and the invoice date defaulted to that date – then when the invoice is saved, that is the date that the system says was the BilledDate in JOBLN.

When the invoice was posted, if the invoice date is changed to read 30/09/2024, the BilledDate is not updated.

That is because there is no simple link from an invoice and its lines, back to the original JOBLN lines.
