Remote Desktop Connection Error Message

When I click on my remote desktop shortcut to log into the Hosted Server, I get the message "The remote session was disconnected because license store creation failed with access denied. Please run remote desktop client with elevated privileges"

Solution

This is related to the administrator permissions on the profile of the computer that you are logged in to, this is controlled by your IT company or whoever assisted with setting up your network.

They should be able to review the permissions on your profile and ensure that you have the appropriate level of access to run the remote desktop software, either by adding you to the administrator’s group or editing the relevant key’s permissions to allow your user profile full control.

This can be checked and edited in the Registry Editor (Right clicked and run as Administrator)

By going to this path Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing

Then right clicking and editing the permissions screen.

You may need to restart the workstation once this change has been made.
