Stop Selling Negative Stock

We don't want to sell negative stock, can the system stop this from happening?

Solution

If you go to Admin / Defaults / Manage Product Defaults and tick on the two circled flags 

The users will receive a warning or if back orders are enabled the product will be placed on Backorder.
