One SMS message is limited to 160 Characters. If you go over that limit then you will be charged accordingly.
The Send SMS screen shows the number of characters in a message.

A character count is included but this is an estimate only, when Custom Fields are added in the count will change.
The count is updated when a template is saved, it is recommend it is opened again to see the character count.
Note: the count does not include line feeds (new lines).
