I have a message on my computer "Waiting for Access, in use by " and then my name, or it might be "Record Locked by (your name)". How can this show as me?
Go straight to step 4 for this option
Solution
The possible causes of this are having Customer, Supplier, Customer Item or Product or some other screens open while another user wants to use them.
In the top image a record from Assetidx is open (Customer Items or OPE).
Sometimes the system gets confused by which user is actually in the record.
- In the first instance close Infusion.
- Go back to the task that was open, if the same window appears then it will be necessary to ask users in the system to log off one at a time, until the person that was locking the record releases it, check Admin / Other / Who's Logged On, to ensure all users have logged off. It may be necessary to restart users or disconnect them via the server.
- If this still does not release the record it will be necessary to Reboot the Server and the Workstation.
- Check that the Company.dbt table is in the Infuison folder and has read / write access for all users. This may require assistance from IT Support.
- If nothing else works reinstall Infusion on the Computer receiving the Record in Use message.
If this is showing another staff members name:
Ask them to close the open record, if this does not release the open record start from Step 1 above.
INFDATA Record in use
This can be due to a user having one of the Admin / Default / Manage XXDefaults screens open for too long. Please limit the time these screens are left sitting open.
The difference in the two messages is that it is the order of which the program gets the available information. In the case of an Invoices, it looks at the INVIDX table and immediately knows that this is being accessed by another user and makes the record unavailable. Unfortunately the information within this record is not available until it is opened, which is when the second message will appear. When INVLN is accessed and is not able to get the information because it is in use by another user.
Our Suggestions:
It is recommended that unless a change is being made to a record, that users use the Enquiry option to view a record.
Features like the Details Panel have been added so the record locking is reduced.
