Deleting a Fixed Asset

I want to delete a Fixed Asset but get a warning to say I cannot at this time, why not?

Solution

An asset cannot be deleted while it has value, so it needs to have a total of zero.

Do a sale of the asset for the total purchase value, but only after running depreciation for at least one month.

The depreciation transaction will be reversed by the sale so this will correct the financial side.

The original purchase transaction did not create a journal on the financials, so the sale will not create a reversal there either as expected. That means that the financial record created by entering the Supplier Invoice or Cashbook payment entered to account for the purchase itself in the financials will still be there.

Now the asset has value zero and can be deleted from Admin.
