I Have Received A Backup From My Client, How Can I View Their Data?

I have been given a back up (zip file) by my Client who uses Infusion. What do I do now to restore and view their data? (Question from an Accountant)

Solution

Check with your client to see what Version of Infusion they are using.

Download a trial version from  www.infusionsoftware.co.nz – eg  Elite 9.102 - and install it onto your PC

Use the New Company (DATA) dataset : use STAFF, no password to get in. It will ask for some dates – it is irrelevant what you put in here because it will be overwritten as soon as you restore your client’s backup.

Go to Admin / Other – Restore a Backup – and restore the backup which you obtain from your client.                     

You will need to be given a legitimate user name and password from your client before you can now re-enter Infusion.

The restored data doesn't need to be licensed but by doing so the company name will display on the login screen. This is useful if multiple backups are being restored under the one Infusion installation ie in Data0001, Data0002 etc.
